The Immutable Economy: Blockchains, DAOs, and ICOs

Will explore the concept of immutability as it applies to blockchains and will weigh the pros and cons of building decentralized applications and a recent example of an infamous Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) and how a "hacker" was able to exploit it. Speaker: Dan Roseman Details.

When Dan first discovered Bitcoin in early 2013, it was love at first sight. He began consuming as much information as possible and launched Coinality.com — The Job Board for Digital Currency — in September 2013. He also organized the world’s first Bitcoin Job Fairs in Los Angeles, Silicon Valley, and NYC (bitcoinjobfair.com).

Dan is currently a Regulatory Compliance Investigator at Coinbase, where his primary responsibility is to develop and enforce the company’s financial compliance programs.

He has been earning 100% of his income in bitcoin since January 2014 and he’s still alive to talk about it… at Pixels Camp this year.

His presentation will explore the concept of immutability as it applies to blockchains and will weigh the pros and cons of building decentralized applications. He will also discuss a recent example of an infamous Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) that managed to raise more than $150M from over 18,000 investors in 28 days , and how a “hacker” was subsequently able to exploit it for $50M.

Lastly, he will discuss how Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) are changing the venture capital andscape, and will highlight a few interesting projects.
